I do not sell or appraise musical instruments. Please do not contact me to request that I identify and provide background information on a specific instrument in your possession and/or evaluate its worth. That's a job for an accredited professional appraiser, which I'm not. That said, I'll be glad to answer questions and discuss any subject I present here, so long as that one proviso is respected.

Music Stores & Instrument Shops The Button Box -- The Button Box in Amherst, MA is my main source for all things accordion and concertina. Here you'll find a knowledgeable friendly staff offering vintage and new instruments of every description as well as books, recordings, videos/DVDs and accessories... everything you need to support your free-reed fixation. The Button Box is also the place to go for the repair and restoration of antique accordions and concertinas. They host the Northeast Squeeze-In, an annual gathering of free-reed players and aficionados from around the world. Elderly Instruments -- My favorite online "one-stop" shop for all my folk and acoustic music needs! Actually, Elderly has been the main enabler of my music addiction since the early '80s. The store's founder/president Stan Werbin is a mensch (Yiddish for "stand-up-kinda-guy" and decent human being) second to none... not to mention a fellow crazed banjo fanatic. Elderly offers an incredible selection of all types of musical instruments, recordings, books, videos/DVDs and more at terrific prices! Janet Davis Music -- One of the best things to come out of Arkansas! Billed as "The Banjo Store," this shop is owned and operated by bluegrass banjo master-picker Janet Davis. It's a great source not only for all-things-banjo, but also for flat-top guitars, mandolins, fiddles, and more! Great prices... though the shipping fee is a bit on the high side. Lark in the Morning -- The main source for hard-to-find ethnic folk instruments from around the world. The Main Squeeze -- A small shop in NYC's historic Lower East Side neighborhood whose motto is "For all your accordion needs." Its proprietor Walter Kuhr is a master and teacher of the piano accordion. His life-long love affair with "the Stomach Steinway" began in his native Germany at the age of six, instilled in him by his first teacher, his mom. He came to the Big Apple in 1988 and has been spreading the good word about free reed instruments-- or as he puts it, "Anything with bellows."-- ever since. Walter started the Accordion Nights Concert Series to highlight the many different styles and forms of free reed music found in NYC-- everything from avant-garde jazz and Dominican merengue to "indie pop" and Romanian Gypsy (Roma). He's the founder and conductor of The Main Squeeze Orchestra (an 18 piece all-women, all-accordion orchestra) and leads The Last of the International Playboys (Walter's Latin Jazz and Swing big band which features him on accordion and bassoon). Musician's General Store -- Cobble Hill's friendly-neighborhood music store. I teach guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, ukulele and other instruments as a member of the MGS' teaching staff. Musician's Friend -- A great selection of electric and acoustic instruments as well as equipment. Musurgia -- New York String Service's cyber "old curiosity shop" devoted to the purveyance of fine, rare and peculiar antique and vintage musical instruments and collectibles. I'm the photo archivist/ curator in charge of The Musical Eye, Musurgia's collection of antique and vintage photographs, postcards and other images depicting musicians and their instruments. Retrofret -- Musurgia's sister website which focuses on "vintage, rare and unusual" fretted string instruments.
